![]() Book Resources I found very helpful: One of the first books I read when learning about Homeschooling was the following: Dr. Raymond & Dorothy Moore's book - The Successful Homeschool Family Handbook: A Creative and Stress-Free Approach to Homeschooling. After reading this I was certain I was making the right decision. John Holt's books are good reads as well. I tend to use my summer's as my homeschool book reading time. I read and lounge while the kids swim. So, a few summers ago, I took some time and read The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home by Susan Wise Bauer & Jessie Wise. While I am not following the guide completely from this book, I did get a lot of great resources plus some wonderful advice and tips I will be definitely using. You can also visit the Well-Trained Mind website for more on this style of learning/education. Another good resource is the Story of the World History curriculum by Susan Wise Bauer. Another great book I read one summer was Homeschooling: The Middle Years: Your Complete Guide to Successfully Homeschooling the 8- To 12-Year Old Child by Sheri Henry. I ended up with a ton of resources to look into from reading this book. There are also 2 others in this "series". Homeschooling: The Early Years: Your Complete Guide to Successfully Homeschooling the 3- to 8- Year-Old Child by Linda Dobson & Homeschooling: The Teen Years : Your Complete Guide to Successfully Homeschooling the 13- To 18-Year Old by Cafi Cohen. One other book I have read, while not directly related to homeschooling but a great book nonetheless, was The Book of New Family Traditions: How to Create Great Rituals for Holidays & Everyday by Meg Cox. I checked this out from my library and liked it so much I rushed out to Border's and bought my own. Ü ![]()
