![]() Hi and welcome to my Homeschooling Page!! Our family has homeschooled from the beginning. We are full-swing into our 9th year of "grade-wise". Amanda is in 8th and Jacob is in 6th. We now have all new *issues* with having a teen & a pre-teen in the house. hehe The moods change quickly around here, but we get through it... day-by-day. Ü I hope you'll find the info useful here. I know when I first jumped into homeschooling, I was clueless. I knew only one person that homeschooled, and her kids were much older than mine and were pulled out of school during the upper grades. Everyone makes the decision to homeschool for different reasons. Mine were simple: I was not pleased with the school in our neighborhood. It was unsafe for any children to be around. And that was just the outside I had seen! After a call to the BOE (Board of Ed.) asking what would be needed to send my oldest to a different school, I was told I couldn't. (Which I later found was un-true.. if the school has room, you can send your child elsewhere.) So it was simple, I said ok send me info. on what I need to do to homeschool. My oldest was not quite 3 at the time. So I spent the next 2 years researching as much as possible. This was in 1996, and there was much info in my area then (at least not that I could find). I wasn't a big internet person, so didn't know how to do searches online very well. So much has changed!! It is simple to find homeschooling info on the 'net. But there is SO much to go through that it's almost harder now. It can be overwhelming reading up on everything from curriculum to state laws, and everything in between. So my goal is to help make this a little simpler. ![]()
